My First Computer…
by Dbot on Feb.11, 2010, under Uncategorized
Take a look at the Mattel Aquarius, my first computer. I had a ton of fun on this underpowered, limited little guy and learned quite a bit about BASIC from it. It had an awesome rubber chiclet style keyboard that today could cause carpal tunnel (or Karl Tunnel, as my friend would say) just by looking at it. The only other computer I’ve used with a worse keyboard is the Timex Sinclair (another link)…oh yeah, and the Odyssey 2. Still, even with its shortcomings the Aquarius did a good job of bringing me in to the digital age and letting me pretend to be Mathew Broderick.
Peep out this video of a guy unboxing the complete Aquarius suite of goodness.

New Year’s Resolutions…
by Dbot on Jan.12, 2010, under iPhone
Better late than never, y’allz. I wanted to come up with 10 resolutions, but since it’s the 12th and I haven’t posted even one I’ll go ahead and go with what I have. Here we go:
- Get down to 200lbs/get in shape
- Drink more water (in place of the gallons of soda/caf-pows I drink daily)
- Work on being more organized
- Finish kitchen remodel by March
- Write an iPhone app!
Yeah, number 5 is a biggie. It will be happenin’! I’ve even already bought (yet another) iPhone dev book as you’ll see below.

Retro Gaming Goodness…
by Dbot on Nov.15, 2009, under Macintosh
I’m a retro computing and gaming junkie, so when I saw that my homeboy, @TeLeKiNeSiS mentioned on twitter the other day that he was getting back in to Willy Beamish I got all hyped up Cornholio-style…that was hard to explain at work. Anyway, here’s a pic of Flashback and The Adventures of Willy Beamish, two of the games I’ve been spending a lot of time with lately…complete with my original boxes. I bought the PC versions of these on floppy way back in the early 90′s, but I’m actually running the SegaCD version of Flashback via Kega Fusion and the CD version of Willy Beamish via DosBox on the hackintosh.
As you can see in the pic below I’m on level 8 of Flashback. I’m actually on Day 4 of Willy, even though the pic shows the beginning of the game. I didn’t finish either of these games originally, so it’s a real treat to make my way through and finally see the endings. You just gotta love the emu scene for making this stuff possible!

Snow Leopard This Friday!
by Dbot on Aug.24, 2009, under Macintosh
So, it’s official now, Snow Leopard will be out this Friday, August 28th. I just put my order in and it said that it will deliver on the 28th, so I’m hoping to having some fun this weekend upgrading my Macs…and (crossing fingers) hopefully the Hackintosh. I saw a vid on youtube where somebody said the Snow Leopard build they used to upgrade Leopard took only 13 minutes to complete so I’m wondering if it will install similar to one of the combo updates which would probably be good news for Hackintosh users.
